Overview:

Ginseng refers to several plant species of the genus Panax in the family Araliaceae, most often Panax ginseng C. A. Mey. (Asian ginseng) and Panax quinquefolius L. (American ginseng).

Ginseng root has a long history used as a tonic and anti-aging material in traditional medicines and culinary dishes. In classical herbalism, ginseng is included in preparations that aim to support and increase physical, mental and emotional energy to strengthen health and resilience, enhance cognition, increase stress and anxiety tolerance, and improve mood. Ginseng is also included in preparations attempting to promote recovery from illness or injury.
